Round One Jubilee Cup 2018 Rotherham
The month of March sees all sorts of adverse weather but we were lucky to have a day which was although cold, good for sailing with a steady but gusty wind.

The 8 races beforelunch and these were dominated by John Tushingham (Keighley) with Craig Raistrick (Rotherham) and Roger Errington (Scarborough) vying for second place.

After an excellent lunch of steak/kidney pie with peas and apple crumble /custard, the sailors were well fuelled up for the start of the second half with a target of a full 16 races for the day to at 15.45pm.

Racing was close, but our top four sailors continued to dominate the second half with Norman Rowley (Keighley) trying his best to encroach on the top three. However there were some battles going on in our second pack of five boats.

Simon Robinson (Killingworth) headed this group with Neil Thornton (Scarborough) following but Geoff Farrar and Malcolm Yeoman’s (both Rotherham) were hanging in there.
Two boats had problems and retired and the last five boats chopped and changed their positions on regular occasions.

Observing fell down on occasions so a definite improvement is required, but th competitors must be praised for their sportsmanship shown throughout and friendly way in which they sailed.
Overall a good days was had by all.

1.      Keithley & District MES          195

3.      Killingworth MYC                     222
4.      Scarborough MYC                   348
5.      Balne Moor MBC                     440
